REFLECTING UPON THE LIFE OF THE NOBLE PROPHET (on the occasion of Maulidur Rasul) (poem)

Muhammad, may the blessings of Allah be upon him
More than 1.5 billion Muslims loved him
One in every five persons believes in him
He was the last prophet with oneness of Allah as theme

Muhammad was an illiterate man
Neither write nor read he can
To Muhammad God sent the final revelation
The Quran as book of guidance

The prophet call to worship only one God
Allah al-Mighty is our Lord
and taught us how to live in this world
preparation for Hereafter where life is eternal

Muhammad's behavior was highly noble
He was indeed most remarkable
The Prophet was himself selfless
and enjoined followers to help others

Muhammad taught Islam as a way of life
Quran as guidance in all spheres we strive
He founded a state and laid down a constitution
Governed with justice, respect and tolerance

Muslims believe in the earlier prophets
including Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), and Jesus (Isa)
The same message by all the messengers
worship God alone, without partners

Islam is not for any particular race
nor people of any specific place
Muhammad is the last of God's messengers
The Quran as guidance for all frontiers

Prophet Muhammad earned high respect
by non-Muslim notables both East and West
Michael H. Hart chose Muhammad as world's most influential man
Ghandi was convinced that not by the sword Islam won people's heart then

The prophet quoted from the Quran
scientific facts his time knew none
in astronomy, biology, metrology, geology,  embryology and medicine
This is one proof the Quran is undoubtedly divine

Prophet Muhammad was careful to preach just as God had prescribed
Not to adulate him during his life and after he died
Muslims do not worship their Prophet
but they truly adore him with utmost respect

Islam today is world's second largest religion
In embracing Islam there is no compulsion
There is much more about Muhammad that we must learn
for his life is full of wisdom and a source of inspiration
