Islam, The Religion of Peace, is Being Hijacked (poem)

Hitherto the world has witnessed several bombings,
including hostage-taking and mass shootings,
carried out by terrorists and extremists,
Scores of innocent people were victims,
The attack on New York twin towers on September 9th, 2001 was indeed tragic,
Elsewhere in US and in Europe shootings and killings created chaos and panic.

June 5th, 2017, was the latest attack,
This time in London, innocent victims became target,
Islam, the religion of peace, was again blamed,
The attackers have 'hijacked' the religion without shame.
As if human life has no value or dignity,
and between humans there is no mercy.

But many may be plainly surprised,
that Quran declares very high value of human life,
whether it's life of a Muslim or otherwise.
The Quran forbids to take even one life unjustly, 
The gravity of such equals the annihilation of all humanity.

"...if any one killed a person it would be as if he killed the entire humanity,
and if any one saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the entire humanity..."( 5:32 )

After every attack, muslim goverments and organizations have strongly condemned,
Those perpetrators should face justice and be banned,
The actions of the few fanatics who happen to be Muslims and have Muslim names,
cannot be reason why Islam should be blamed,
Ironically, Hitler and Joseph Stalin killed and starved millions,
Still we don't jump to conclusion and blame their religion,
Simillarly for the same logical reason,
Islam should not be blamed for any individual's misguided actions,
Western media did not label Hitler and Stalin as religious extremists,
why then were they quick to label the attackers as "Jihadists" and "Islamists"?

In Islam not only is human life sacred,
but their property, wealth, family respected,
and dignity of all individuals are to be protected,

The Prophet said in his farewell sermon: "..Verily, Allah the Exalted has made sacred your lives, your wealth, and your honor except by right of justice, just as your day, your city, and your month are sacred.." (Sahih Bukhari)

Even in times of war and conflict where there is enmity,
Islam still commands that justice be upheld with utmost morality.

"O ye who believe! stand out firmly for Allah, as witnesses to fair dealing, and let not the hatred of others to you make you swerve to wrong and depart from justice. Be just: that is next to piety: and fear Allah. For Allah is well-acquainted with all that ye do" (5:8)

Islam has no hand in the massive killings in modern human history,
where the story of wars was only about misery,
The First World War recorded 17 million dead,
During the Second World War over 60 million died,
The war in Vietnam recorded over 3 million dead,
During the Korean War 2.5 million Koreans died,
The genocide in Cambodia recorded 2 to 3 million people dead,
None of these were caused by Muslims from any country,
How can then Islam suddenly become a problem for humanity?

Muslims are bound by a divine code of conduct of the highest morality,
The Quran and Prophet Muhammad forbid the killing of women, children and the elderly,
At the heart of the Islamic call was the act of mercy,
“We sent thee (O Muhammad) not save as a mercy for the whole world” (21:107);
a totally different message to what western media has perpetuated,
as in Islam human life is sacred and protected.
